"I had every intention of going. Traveling to new cities and eating strange foods. Taking way too many pictures and posting them on Instagram so everyone could see how much fun I was having. I really had every intention of going. I am going to do all of those things, I swear. Just not exactly in the place I said I was going to."

Alexa did everything she was supposed to. She graduated college with a 4.0, got proposed to by her high school sweetheart and even agreed to go to graduate school to appease her parents. But this summer was different. And her parents agreed. Well, they agreed to pay for her to study abroad for the summer without fully knowing her plans of ditching it to become a concert photographer. 

One summer. It only takes three short months to throw all of Alexa's plans down the drain. It could have been the tour's fault or even that stupid, tattooed drummer. But as long as her life back home doesn't catch up to her, what will it hurt?All Rights Reserved

She swoons for him after his performance, and they have drinks afterwards. Just as she thinks he is going to kiss her, he doesn't. Instead, he says she's not his type and would rather just be friends. This stings at first especially as she sees him go after a girl much more alluring than she is. Benji, his bandmate and best friend, tells her it's not worth it, that every girl he gets involved with is only for a hot minute and then he's on to the next one. She asks how she can get him interested in her to which he says to not care about him and move on to the next guy. But she says she's never felt this way about a guy before and Benji says he has an idea. Since Nick is his best friend, he'll turn her into the perfect catch.

Writing a memoir at only fifteen years old has taught me a lot. Giving me the time to reflect on the lessons I learned the hard way and the mistakes I've made thus far. I learned, if there is at least two sides to every story, there is at least two sides to every person. What could be a smile is a broken heart in a deeper reality. We all live in a society where nothing is as it seems, the people being more complex and astonishing than the countless novels we read. And in a world ruled by tragedies, we are the survivors. Getting through our own history, more important to us then what we read in school. We take our story one page at a time, word by word because in the end, it will all be worth it. I dedicate this memoir to the people who have been with me on my journey of self discovery, even if only in spirit. Mom- Who has made non stop sacrifices to ensure my happiness and well being. Nothing would be possible without you! Grandma- Who has inspired me and made a huge influence to the person I am now and who I'll be in the future. Callie- My own personal slave, illustrator, editor and full time best friend. You know I love you <3 Ariana Grande- My celebrity inspiration, showing me that it's ok to "love who you love, no one can judge, follow your heart and don't give up", getting me through the long and lonely nights. Being young and naive Isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it brings way to new experiences, to be vulnerable and crying doesn't make you any less of a person. That we're all human and it's ok to embrace it.
