In the third book following "What Happened" -
Now knowing the truth about Lila and Hunter's relationship, Zooey finds herself feeling as though all of Borne has moved well past Michael's death, leaving her behind to get through her own trauma from that terrible night, alone. She soon finds herself running away from the terrible memories left behind in Borne to attempt an escape once in for all. Whether that be to Chicago or elsewhere, Zooey isn't sure, but she knows no matter where it is, it may be best to take her painful past with her and continue to keep it a secret from those it impacts the most. But with several relationships from home begging Zooey for closure from her first disappearing act, it may not be so easy for her to go quietly like she had planned.
Lila seems to have made peace with Zooey now knowing about her romantic relationship she has with Hunter, but with Zooey no longer in town, Lila faces the choice of what to do about her mother's offer to move to New York. For the first time, Lila is overwhelmed with possibilities and chances for a better life for her and Dylan, but the fear of losing Hunter in the process looms over her head. And as the rumor mill in town grows stronger, Lila is reminded that there are relationships in Borne that are owed some truth and closure five years overdo. If she's ever going to truly move forward, she, too, must let go of Michael and the trauma of the past.
The question is, will Zooey and Lila be able to not only move on from the memories that haunt them from that awful night, but be able to move forward being honest with each other in the process?
