Porten Abnerdon lives in the city of Pittsburgh in the late 1800's. He is an underage coal miner (15 years old) who struggles to support his family with his meager wages. One day he gets trapped in an underground mine shaft and must struggle to get back to his sister before she dies due to him not bringing in money for food and shelter.
