Veiled in Light and Ruin
Every year, Lyra's village gathers beneath the ancient statues of the Fates, offering prayers and sacrifices to keep the creeping darkness at bay. The Ruined Kingdom stands in the distance, a forbidden place where no one enters and no one leaves. A place ruled by a king who does not age, does not die, and does not care for the world beyond his walls. Lyra has never believed in fate, only in survival. With her mother's health failing, she is willing to do whatever it takes to save what little she has left. But when this year's ritual goes terribly wrong, Lyra is taken-ripped from the life she knows and thrust into the heart of a kingdom lost to time. There, she is told she has been chosen. That she, along with others, must vie for the favor of a king no one has seen in over a century. But something is wrong within the castle's walls. Whispers of the past haunt her steps, and the King-cold, untouchable, and shrouded in secrets-watches her too closely. As shadows stir and forgotten magic awakens, Lyra begins to question everything she's been told about the Ruined Kingdom. And, more importantly, about herself. Because the deeper she delves into the mystery of the King and the kingdom he rules behind the walls, the more she realizes: Some destinies are written in blood. And some fates are meant to be broken.
A Forest of Secrets
⭐ FEATURED ⭐ 02/16/2018 Longlisted, Wattys 2018 ✅ COMPLETE Jocasta's nineteen years of peaceful existence in a little village of the Kingdom of Ontur blew up in pieces without much warning: Grandmother had a secret, an old pact with a mysterious man-a pact that, apparently, Jo and her new tagalongs - a flamboyant mage, a goofball knight pledge and a young alchemist-now had to take care of, thanks to the untimely death of the King of Ontur. A quest to find an ancient place, concealing an artifact of unmeasurable power and rumored to be deadly. And posthaste, before it falls into the wrong hands. That's something all grandmothers ask of their granddaughters sometime in their lifetime, right? And all that was at stake was the stability of the kingdom: no pressure. Set in a world where magic is vital, where mages are as equally feared and shunned as they're needed. A temporarily Kingless kingdom where vultures wait for the perfect time to take a plunge. A world where secrets and lies are as abundant, dangerous and necessary as magic. But something else brews in the Kingdom of Ontur: something bigger than Jocasta and her Grandmother's secrets. ⭐ 1st place in Fantasy, The Crystal Crown Awards 2017 || Highest ranking : #46 in Fantasy 03/04/2018 #writteninaction you can read a review here: https://www.wattpad.com/471550430-island-of-lost-toys-reviews-great-reads-for-theConcluida![Orb Guardians [Volume 2: Water]](https://img.wattpad.com/cover/227619265-256-k350642.jpg)
