When a girl finds herself, and finds she's really a boy, Milo struggles through his life and doesn't know how to cope with his body being physically a girl, but mentally a boy. He also struggles with a physically abusive father, and an alcoholic mother, both not understanding and not willing to take on the heartache and stress of their daughter becoming a man.
