Three hundred and fifteen years after World War IV  snow no longer falls, the heat is unbearable, and a single city stands as the heart of civilization but humans are not the ones that inhabit it.  Human evolution and improvement reigned supreme when the Malum won the war and nearly sent the human race into extinction. For seventy years the humans have been rebelling by thieving  and humiliating the Malum all the while fighting against their own kind. They kill, they die, but the only alternative is to live in filth and poverty and in constant fear of being assassinated. 

The rebellion calls themselves Hooks, and after seventy years, killing and being killed it has become an almost normal lifestyle. And in a life of death and destruction it's almost impossible to spot a talented Hook from a psychopath.All Rights Reserved

When a zombie apocalypse hits the world on its National Thanksgiving, in less than 24 hours, villages, cities, towns, entire countries are wiped out. Gone away into the dust, to never be seen. Nah, they all emerge as mindless angry creatures that would destroy anything in it's path to get a drop of your blood. Zombies. Not just the regular zombies you see in TV. Not the slowpokes, dumb, crazied flesh-eating monsters. No, these zombies can see, smell, run, climb, they can imitate and God help us they understand and not simply imitate. What happens when these zombies begin to gain intelligence? Every living thing evolves and if it doesn't; it's not worthy of being called 'living'. So when the remaining of humanity remains unmoving, stagnant but the zombies keep growing in mass, intelligence, strength; living. Living on the bare minimum, working your back, seeing loved ones day every single day, hearing screams of help from all around you but knowing how you couldn't do anything. This is a world where surviving wasn't... surviving. Living hurts. This is a world where even horror die-hard fans would rather not be in. For you to live, you have to be insane. And thankfully for one of our characters, they've gone insane.

100 years ago, amidst WW3's nuclear bombing, a deadly virus was released in the atmosphere and nearly wiping out the humanity. It lives inside the human brain thriving on the empathy receptors, leading to irrational behaviour and ultimately brain death. To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. To minimize the threats, the Colonies have sent their best soldiers to oversee the trial and protect its key subjects. If only things were going according to plan, or better...stay hidden. These people had a few secrets of their own, including the real reason they took Megan in. The year was 2157 when Earth crumbled and governments fell. Most living things died and their was a silence on earth that was deafening. The first particles of disease fell in North America in the Spring of 2157 and began to scatter and mutate into virus and bacteria. Bombs sailed through cities leveling Government buildings, business and residential. Historians call this period Decay. Ricin poisoning and nerve gases were released. Citizens began to fall ill and die quickly. Later historians found out that a few middle east countries, China and Russia poisoned all food with Ricin. The food was then shipped to US, Canada, UK, many European countries. This period is only known as "Decay' Some humans survived. Either from paranoia or luck, so the stories go. The paranoid ones were waiting for the first signs of a fallout and when it began they hid in their underground 'storage containers'. These were completely sealed once someone closed the door. The doors were automated and within 2 to 5 years depending on the setting chosen the doors would automatically open. The history of the 'lucky ones' is that they knew someone who had a container and welcomed them, or they hid in the container until the family that owned it got in and sealed the door. And hope they would not be killed for trespassing. Now it is 2243. The world has drastically changed. In this world the 'Owners' and 'Potentials' rule the 'communities'. Guards police, keeping communities separated. The Powers rule over what was once called North America now simply called East Nation North (ENN). Superiors handle their community they are assigned to. Under the Powers, Superiors, Water Protectors, Guards, owners and potentials come the animal breeders next on the hierarchy. Then the last three levels don't really matter to anyone. Those are the baby breeders, slaves and throwaways. They have no say in anything.
