As someone who suffers from a mental illness I have long been thinking of a story about a twelve-year old boy who takes care of his schizophrenic mother. His father moved out and is remarried. The boy keeps her on her meds, takes her to doctor visits, to the pharmacy, as well as staying in school. They walk a fine line between lunacy and normalcy and his worst fear is that the social worker who visits them will see how bad things are and send his mother to an institution and him into foster care. The boy will do anything to save his mother, even if it means going back to the time before the Weasels got her. This is that story.

I always felt as if something was different, that there was something my mom wasn't telling me. Then it happened. My mother had a gun in one hand, and me in the other. Since then, I moved from orphanage to orphanage, keeping my mothers last free words in the back of my mind, "Don't stop moving. This world isn't safe for you Chase". So I did just that, I kept moving. That all changed when three strangers broke into my current housing situation, roughed up a small army, and then transported me to a world far removed from Earth. Oh, did I mention that they were using magic, because they were.
