I ran to the front door. I ignored my mom calling out to me as I focused on escaping. My so called family members were frozen in shock as I threw open the door. I ignored the voices that called out to me. I ignored the biting chill of the wind as it tugged at my blue and white blouse. I ignored the icy air as it clawed at my lungs. I ignored my frozen tears. I ignored everything and just ran.
I ran like nothing else mattered to me. Nothing mattered at all at this point. My mom hates me now. She's forgotten all about me. She might even have a new precious baby girl or even a precious baby boy. She no longer cares for me, so why should I care?

My hand slaps against my mouth as I try to shut myself up. Don't make too much noise...or he'll hear you. A vehicle's door opens then slams shut. He jumps down into the ditch...he stands directly in front of me, with his back facing me. My hand presses harder against my mouth as I try to suppress my whimper, but it's way too late now.
