In the glittering, rococo Paris of 1728, eighteen-year-old Olivier d'Aumont has a plethora of problems he'd rather not deal with, the most troublesome of which is his straight-laced and boring-to-tears older brother getting himself arrested for murder.

Olivier, convinced his brother has been framed, enlists the help of his twin sister to investigate the murder and prove their brother is innocent. But a mysterious clock magic that turns aristocrats into mind-altered puppets has been plaguing the city, and Olivier soon discovers both the sickness and the murder are part of a sinister plot to overthrow the king.

Teaming up with a teenage King Louis XV and a dagger-wielding female clockmaker, Olivier must push through his debilitating anxiety and stop the mastermind behind the plot. Time is ticking, and if Olivier doesn't succeed, his brother will be hanged for a crime he didn't commit-and the entirety of Paris will be overrun by deadly magic.

WATTYS SHORT LIST! When sixteen-year-old Sasha Nikolayeva opens her eyes on a horrifying tableau of dead and dying bodies, she can only hope to wake up. But the nightmare, if that's what it is, doesn't end. Instead, Sasha finds herself rendered mute and enslaved by a society which doesn't recognize her as a human being. To the citizens of Kingsgarden, "thralls" like Sasha are automatons brought into being by mages, incapable of speech or independent thought. Hidden behind a carefully crafted mask of soulless neutrality, Sasha silently endures starvation, degradation, and physical abuse at the hands of her captors as she watches and waits for an opportunity to escape into the glittering, majestic capital city of Kingsgarden. Despite visions of her old life which strongly suggest that she is suffering from some sickness of the mind--a neurological disorder, or perhaps simple insanity--Sasha is determined to take matters into her own hands and find her way home, whether she is imprisoned truly in a foreign land or only in her own mind. But as time goes by, Sasha finds herself drawn to the beauty and vitality of the City...and to the handsome Beastspeaker who only wants to give her his heart. Sasha knows she has no choice but to leave it all behind in order to go home, but she can't help but begin to wonder if "home" is where she thought it was and if the line between reality and madness is as fixed as it seems. This is a very early version of my novel "A Garden of Light and Shadows" which is currently under agent consideration. Cross your fingers for me!

Her Knight in Camelot

25 parts Complete

A modern-day man's ordinary life shatters when a fierce, enigmatic woman bursts into his world, claiming to hail from the medieval era. Her mission? To drag him back through time to the legendary kingdom of Camelot. The only problem-he doesn't believe in magic, knights, or anything she's saying. But the past won't take "no" for an answer. Camelot is on the brink of ruin. The king is dead, the realm is in chaos, and the rightful heir-spirited away to the future by ancient magic-has been lost to time. Desperate to save the kingdom, Merlin's inexperienced granddaughter is assigned the task of retrieving the true king. She journeys to the modern world, armed with little more than a handful of spells and a fierce determination. But the future is far stranger than she imagined, and the lost Arthur-now an ordinary man-has no memory of his royal destiny. To make matters worse, she's misplaced the one magical artifact capable of returning them to Camelot. Time is running out, and the fate of the legendary kingdom hangs by a thread.
