Fire, air, water, and earth are the four elements. There are only two people in the whole world who have the ability to bend these four elements. The Chie and the Avatar. The Avatar was created to bring balance to the world, and not too soon after the Chie was created to bring balance to the Avatar.
The First Avatar, Wan, combined the Avatar's spirit, Raava, with his dying lover's soul. This act created a new spirit named Zhījǐ, ever since then the Avatar and the Chie's souls have been intertwined.
It's destiny that an Avatar and Chie would end up together... and destiny cannot be changed no matter what.
