So with a mother who was always crying and wallowing in self-pity, will the two boys actually suck it up and talk to each other when there is no one else? And maybe they get too friendly with each other...

Forgetting his past Frank tries to move on, it does take a lot of energy out of him considering he has IED and had a terrible childhood.
