The War of the Gold had been raging for year, or revolutions, as they were called on Mars. Emperor Jiron II of the Imperialis dynasty had sent his Spear, Lord Corrigan, to ensure the war was won, taking his two eldest with him. Left at home wass the youngest, left to support an ailing mother, left to hold the line. The boy Corrigan, nameless as he was, strove only to achieve the best for his name, but when he is assigned captain of the guard, he learns his idyllic utopia of gold, science and glory, is nothing more than a dystopia that he lived above. A plot is made to kill the Emperor, and collateral damage is no qualm for the conspirators. The island city of Cathedral, once so safe, has been revealed as the centre of a web of lies, and in the middle of it all, standing with few allies, the young Corrigan must hold the line. That young Corrigan was my past self, and I remember it like it was yesterday...
