Catherine Hughes is a strange girl, unwilling to part with a dark secret. A woman by the name of Josephine Powell, Catherine's psychologist, manages to coax it out of her as tiresome weeks pass – but when she finds out the truth, her black-and-white world is turned upside down within the blink of an eye. Coming to realize the rules of the world aren't what they seemed to be, she is forced to question her job, the course of her life, and - most importantly - herself.

Julie Powell seeks refuge on the internet, afraid of reality. With no friends, divorced parents and only the ability to stay invisible, she tries to fight her way through adolescence. But as Julie becomes increasingly haunted by her possible future, she submerges deeper and deeper into her virtual life.

An average boy named Louis Gladstone tries to fight his way through high school, but all he has is his intelligence. When life cruelly cuts the seams holding his heart and brain together, he is at a loss. But then there seems to be a solution, dark and devastating, and Louis begins to plan...

Abigail and Jessie Edwards grew up in a house where love was a foreign language and survival was a daily battle. Their parents-violent, neglectful, addicts-left them with scars that ran deeper than the eye could see. Jessie, the older sister, was forced to become both mother and protector, shielding Abigail from the worst of their parents' wrath. But some wounds even she couldn't prevent. Then, one night, everything changed- A home invasion. A bloodbath. Their parents slaughtered while the sisters slept just down the hall. At the police station, still dazed and reeling, Abigail and Jessie met the last person they ever expected-Samuel Edwards, the grandfather they never knew existed. With a quiet intensity and an unsettling air of secrecy, he offered them a new life, far from the wreckage of their past. It seemed like salvation. But monsters don't just live in broken homes. They lurk in the shadows of new beginnings, wearing the faces of those who seem safe. Abigail finds herself entangled in the affections of two dangerously alluring boys-both haunted, both hiding unspeakable secrets. One is something not quite human, a creature of nightmares and whispered legends. The other? A killer, whose hands are stained with more than just metaphorical blood. And one of them... was there the night her parents died. As desire turns to obsession and secrets unravel, Abigail's world takes a deadly turn when she discovers she's carrying one of their children. The revelation sets off a chain of horrors, drawing the attention of something powerfully dangerous. Now, with forces beyond her control closing in, Abigail must navigate a web of betrayal, supernatural terror, and a love so toxic it threatens to consume her. The deeper she digs, the more she realizes-her past is far from buried, and the truth may be more monstrous than she ever imagined. Because in the end, some secrets aren't meant to be uncovered. And some love stories were never meant to have happy endings.

Life has reinvented the definition of rock bottom so many times for twenty-six-year-old Sadie Blake. When her parents divorced she received a new stepfather, countless bruises and a major aversion to alcohol. With her stepfather she inherited a depressed mother, new siblings and a reckless stepsister. With her stepsister, an abandoned baby nephew and a lifetime of responsibility... Responsibility has never frightened Sadie. For so long it's been all she's known, thrown into situations outside her control and forced to just find a way to make it work. But the kind of responsibility and obligation Sadie has had to endure in her young life isn't sustainable for anyone, let alone a vulnerable teenage girl just trying to keep her family safe; and the repressed memories and overwhelming darkness lingering always in the back of her mind grow more menacing by the day, begging to be seen and felt, and threatening to consume her altogether. Through enlisting the help of a therapist, Sadie realises her list of regrets is a lot more comprehensive than she first thought, and topping that list are two very different but equally important people - Ruben Foster and Camden Jones - neither of which she has seen in over a decade, but who she comes to learn will be key to her positively moving forward in life with her eleven-year-old nephew. But the process of trudging through their respective shared pasts is proving a lot more challenging than she anticipated...

Everyone knows the rules of growing up. Once you're eighteen things become clearer, childhood problems melt away, and you're ready to go out and conquer the world. You're now an adult. You can look your parents in the eye as equals. Officially, you're on your own, and now you'll only look back fondly at what you once were, an immature child still learning about life. Or so you'd think. Jake is a young adult who grew up with the support of his family, especially his mother, Elaine. Though he experienced some rough patches as a child and fitting in was a constant challenge, she's been there for him. But it's time for Jake to "grow up" and for him, that means no longer needing his family. It turns out that life without them is a far greater struggle than he ever imagined. Living independently is hard, but admitting it is even harder. Join this true story of conflict and heart-pounding moments, as both mother and son explore the concept of parenting as a lifelong commitment.
