Maggie Wilson prides herself on being able to uncover the truth. No matter what. She has dreams of being a journalist, living in New York City, where she was born and raised. But after her parents get a divorce, and her father moves to the small town of Winharth, she is forced to move with him, despite all of her protests.

Maggie resents the fact that she had to leave her school, her friends, her life, back in New York City. Most of all, she resents the fact that she had to leave behind her mother. Unable to adjust to life in a small town, even after a whole year, she concocts a plan to go back to The City. With help from her new found friend, Matthew, Maggie goes on a wild adventure to get back to her mother. But as Maggie is about to learn, some truths are better left hidden.
