After her father, the king, is murdered, Princess Aliana becomes the prime suspect. After all, she stood to inherit the throne once he was gone. There's only one problem: Aliana is innocent. She's certain someone is framing her, but she just doesn't know who. Things go from bad to worse when she is formally accused of the murdered and locked in the castle while awaiting trial. Knowing she will be either executed or exiled, the princess quickly flees the castle, along with her trusted bodyguard, Iora. During her escape, she is attacked by the true assassin, and only narrowly escaped with her life. From the castle, she flees into the surrounding woods, hoping to find refuge somewhere in the vast kingdom. Aliana soon learns, though, that she is not made for a life on the run and struggles to survive. All the while, she is being trailed by an assassin that will stop at nothing to kill her.
