August had a simple goal: to become a ghost hunter. But things won't always be easy, especially now that prospects more threatening than ghosts lurk in the unknown.

August Falling's life is a chaotic roller coaster, especially now that he has to finish college. But when he witnesses something he was never supposed to see, he suspects his new school might not be all that it seems. With the disappearance of multiple students, the unearthly creatures digging through his trash bin, and the mumbling coming from the treeline, it's obvious that something strange is going on.

August also has his own problems, from misplacing many of his countless medications, to the nighttime antics of the sketchy school headmaster, to his own dark secret. But his own plight begins to seem menial as a hidden threat stalks the people of Plumtown, and August must decide if the true terror is from the dark outside or a conspiracy within the woodwork.
