The group of enormous wolves followed my trail, approaching closer and closer with each step. I know that I have no chance of escaping them until I noticed the town in the far distance. If I manage to hold on a bit longer, I might make it. I shifted into my worf, trying to escape them, but my front paw hurts once again. Just as I am about to reach the town, the pack surrounds me. They tackled me onto the ground and snarled lowly. Their fangs revealed, barking at me aggressively.

"Shift! Now!" I heard a deep command inside my head. Snow begins to fall heavily, tears falling to the ground as I scream in pain shifting back. I curl up into a ball, laying bare in the pillow of skin piercing snow. Yet nonetheless, a strange feeling settles within me, keeping me from giving up. I smell red oranges and something strong, enchanting. My hair falling onto my face as I get up on command, covering myself with nothing but my hands.

"Look at me," a man's voice makes me flinch, though I did as I am told, shaking like a leaf on water. I meet the burnt umber eyes piercing me like daggers. I take a shaky breath, realizing what Lexie had been trying to tell me this entire time.

"Mate," she repeats as my eyes widen and I begin to run at the opposite direction from him, petrified of what he may do to me. Just the thought of being enslaved once again made me cry as I ran not more than twenty feet before a caging pair of arms wrapped around me from behind, holding me in place.

"Mate."
