Spirit animals are mystical beings that roam Earth. Before, it was rare to see them. Now, they interact with humans on a daily basis, allowing themselves to be used to enhance their human's elemental magic in return for a place to rest. Everybody has one of them these days.

Everybody but cripples. Cripples have no elemental magic and are at the very bottom of society, despised by all. Spirit animals have no use for them.

Gwyneth Sharpe is a cripple. What makes it worse was that she was born into a powerful family. The extended family scorns her, her older brother mocks her and her adopted one refuses to acknowledge her existence. It was harsh but at least she still had the love of her parents, right?

(Yes, I'm not a monster. I wouldn't take them away.)

Gwyn is going to start high school soon and, from her experiences in middle school, she can tell it's not going to be much fun. She's going to need some back up to survive.

How she gets it? Read the story, duh.
