Sometime after Light joins L's investigation they begin to realize deeper feelings they hold towards eachother, L and Light love eachother, L knows it, he openly declares his care for Light but Light is a bit more stubborn and hard headed. He does Love L, he just doesn't realize it until the moment he is taken by L.
