What made this woman so special? What made him feel anything for her? The mark? The mark (of protection) craved magic from both heaven and hell and is only possible to conjure up by leaders of heaven or hell. Azazel questioned what was pulling him towards this woman so many years ago, the mark allowed him to connect to the woman on another level. As if it was a portal allowing him to see and feel more then he would for anyone... But he had to let her go... the capacity of the pull was so big and strong that not only did he feel love but also the need to do right by the woman he loved...
