Where when a certain Mikaelson who has always had an affiliation for witches, he finds himself falling for the powerful moroi princess of New Orleans.

Being overburdened in soul leads to the new witch having dangerous fevers that Eclipse and Simbi protect her from until she's old enough to take over as Mung Bean's witch (Simbi's rescue cat the same age as the girl). Familiars take on that excess spirit and help manage their partners health and daily work, becoming as human as their masters. The process of protecting Tammy leaves her frightened of Mamman Simbi, and parents in denial don't push children to stray outside their culture. But the world has never been safe for their kind, and just as the deep south starts to recover from a painful recession, the witches hiding in their culture start disappearing, leaving Simbi too distracted to reach out to a fearful child. Then Simbi disappears from a gathering during the worst years for murders in New Orleans (1994), with police corruption running rampant. Mung Bean and Tammy, both now 16, run away from home soon after, leaving Eclipse to sort out how much is safe to tell the young witch's parents, Rafe and Dinah Broussard, and Simbi's boyfriend, T-Beau LeBlanc. Yet, she does learnt hat Werewolves are the Guardians/Old Blood's enemy. They butchered her race. More than enough reason to hate them, right? This is what Julia struggles with. A hate that's pressured on to her by her family and her drunk brother. Yet, didn't Loup and Jonathan help her? Meanwhile Jonathan and Loup are held in Spain as prisoners of the old werewolves; their Chiefs in questioning. They fought, both Loup and Jonathan against Demetrio to protect Julia and her secret. Being tortured until they speak; both having odd dreams about Julia. Loup seems to know more about the Guardians then anyone; he might even know Julia's family more than anyone; back when they were called Mubarak family. While Jonathan is more than determined to reach back to Julia, even though he knows that if he does see Julia; she'll die. Broken between his love for Julia and the fear of her dying before him. While Julia is broken between a new found hate of werewolves and fond memories of Loup and Jonathan. A tension grows as the werewolves find out about the truth whether the Guardians still live. Beyond love and the struggle to be normal and survive a war is starting to grow.

I did a lot more research for this book using exact locations detailed to their time. The backstory of kid in the 70s and his relationship with Darla in the 80s, sets the tone for the entire book**** ------- The search for the cure. After a year away, Kid and the Death Ramps are back in New Orleans. In their absence, a werewolf gang resurfaced terrorizing the French Quarter. Alistair is experiencing strange dreams and traumatic flashbacks after he broke away from black magic. His animal form is more aggressive and out of control. Stella's love gives him hope, without her he can't fight his demons. Kid is haunted by his dark past. A secret he thought would never resurface. Stella is his salvation. The connection between Kid and Stella will change the trio's future forever. Dive into the world of Voodoo, the council, witches, werewolves, the Bayou, and the other world. ------ Again I used various gimmicks of Turner's changing looks for this book. 70s kid - humbug 80s kid - early sias Current kid - late sias and bearded era 70s Alistair - EYCTE era 80s and 90s - Dracula era Currently - this Alistair is darker so I used the 2014 Dracula look where his hair is longer near the front. --
