It's been two years since the death of Jason Todd, a lingering memory which haunts Bruce to the day. Though time may have continued to move on after his son's death; with Barbara becoming Oracle and Tim being Robin; the memory of Jason has never changed in his mind, never-to-forget or forgive himself for and desperately wishing that he could have spent more time with the boy.

For the first time in the vigilante's life, fate decided to take pity on him and a mysterious energy in the cave sends Bruce to awaken five years backwards where he meets the living twelve-year-old Jason again.
