The dreams have been there for as long as she could remember. And as the years grew, so did their vividness. Hiya had convinced herself that they were dreams and nothing more, but with each connection she makes to the real world, Hiya can't help but doubt what she's been trying to convince herself for all these years. What if they aren't dreams? What if she really is transported half-way across the world canoeing over the Huei river in China or in the midst of a sea of people in South Africa protesting for their rights? There has to be a reason why Hiya finds herself walking amongst various civilization but utterly lost. There has to be some connection between every scene she's been transported to, and Hiya starts to realize that she's not alone.
