Emerald Mallory Lane- her life was going great, she was happy, she had lots of friends but most importantly she was healthy- well until she was 13. When she turned 13 everything went downhill. She got diagnosed with Leukemia. Ever since her diagnoses she hasn't left the hospital. She's been in the same hospital for almost 3 years now. 

Everest Maci Laker- her parents left her at birth. She grew up in a orphanage where no one really cared for her- until she got diagnosed with leukemia on her 13th birthday. She has been in the hospital since her diagnoses but they keep moving her from hospital to hospital. She finally feels like she is being cared for, only to find out she is going to be transferring to a different hospital again. 

What happens when Everest is transported to her final hospital and room- the same hospital and room as Emerald. Join them in their journey of becoming best friends. They are the happiest they've been in years but they still having the looming question in the back of their minds- will they both survive? Or will their story have a short ending?
