Countries like the United States have been destroyed due to inadequate leaders, doctors, and more. A new country called Galenia has taken over what remains of North America and its leaders are determined to keep the country alive. To prevent history from repeating itself a system called The Testing was put into place. Every year, every 16 year old in the country must attend the Opening Ceremony and become part of the testing. Testers either pass or fail which decides who is smart enough to live in Galenia. Those who fail are wiped from the memories of all in Galenia and are then sent to the Land of the Forgotten, a torturous place hundreds of feet underground. When it is finally Eleri Cresswell's turn to test she can't help but be filled with dread and fear. And as she hears stories about outcries, hacked memory chips, and executed testers she can't help but feel something much bigger is going on. There is one thing the won't leave her mind though. Eleri Cresswell will be forgotten.

Ever thought surviving first period-and facing her best friend's boyfriend, whom she recently kissed-would be the hardest part of her day. She was wrong. The world is ending. Literally. Between dodging awkward hallway interactions with her best friend's boyfriend and dodging the apocalypse, Ever discovers she may be the one person capable of saving mankind. No pressure, right? But just when she's barely wrapping her head around her destiny, a mysterious (and annoyingly handsome) stranger shows up. He drives her crazy, yet somehow feels...familiar. And he just might hold the key to unlocking Ever's forgotten past and to stopping the strange, earth-shattering events unraveling the future. As secrets unfold and loyalties are tested, Ever has to make a choice: walk away from the chaos and pretend the world isn't ending or embrace her destiny and risk everything to save it. After all, being a teenager is hard. Being the savior of humanity? That's a whole new level. *This is book one in a series
