In fact, Caspian is Malachai's old childhood friend, a friend he spent all his days with, never getting tired of the time they spent together, growing extremely close. When Cas has to leave the town they were in due to a new job offer his mother got, both Cas and Kai were quite torn by this decision, not getting much of a say in what happened.
The heartache that followed the ripping apart of the two was not easy to live with, as they had began to realize that they were soulmates. When Caspian moves back to his hometown, the two boys happen to grow closer than before, their bond growing stronger and stronger. Kai was unsure of what to do with his growing feelings for Cas since he had no idea how his best friend felt, but he also could not hold back much longer, as his feelings were brewing faster than his mind could process.
