"I think I'm old enough for a little respect."
In the winter of 1922, teens Vivian and Gilbert watch their family disintegrate. Their chemist father always travels. Their mom seems awfully interested in that slick traveling salesman - and in drinking wine. It's like seeing an airplane in a nose dive and waiting for the crash.
The teens desperately desire to be grown up, but they need wings to fly, and air beneath.
Little do they know that famed pilot and inventor Cecilia "Ace" Carroway has landed in their tiny town. The maverick heroine has plenty to teach them, but she also attracts mystery and danger. Can it be coincidence that two strangers lurk by the old jail? Will the injection of international intrigue help Vivian and Gilbert pull up from their nose dive and fly? Or will it just make the inevitable crash worse?

I stared in shock. This was the first shred of emotion he'd shown since he started avoiding me, and I had no idea how to respond. What was I supposed to say to something like that? So I let myself be honest, and I told him exactly how I felt. "But I do." I almost choked on my words. "I do need you. I can't talk to anybody else. I can't eat. I can't sleep. And I know you know what that's like."~
Liliana is now an orphan. Just 17 years old, she lost her parents in a boating accident and now she must live with her best friend, her best friend's parents and her best friend's brother, Joseph. Living under the same roof, tensions arise, and Liliana begins to discover that a perfect family may not be so perfect after all."
