"We could just walk out in the middle of the night and never come back. I don't think they could care less, and it's not like we're fenced in, ya know?" Olam's tone is completely dry of emotion as he uses his knife to get a sliver of shit out of the bottom of his jogger. I managed to miss it on the trail but he wasn't so lucky.
"Yeah, I know. But what we don't know is how far they're willing to go to keep us here. After all, they did go to all the effort of stealing us, raising us and training us for god knows what. There's gotta be some attachment on their part." Sarcasm is written on my upper lip, but a part of me is suddenly triggered.
How far .. am I .. willing to go to get answers. We know only that there is something coming, not what, or when or why, just that we must be prepared to fight for our lives.

160 kids were taken from their parents and placed in a village with only each other and a number of relatively normal, yet strict adult leaders named 'Heads', for an unknown reason. They know not where they came from, why they were taken 19 years ago or what they are wanted for. Only that they have been training in every field known to man since birth. Tanner, one of the 19 year olds has had it up to here ^, she wants answers and she will find them, whether it be from the Heads of her village or from someone on the outside.
One thing all the young adults know is that they must stay alert and never stop asking questions. Just because they were practically born into this group of people, does not mean that this is where they ultimately belong.
