"'Your forehead creases look like the top of a toaster!'
'What the hell does that even mean?'
'It means you're not only a jerk, but you have a toaster forehead too! And... and your nose is crooked!' That was a lie.
'Yeah well your hair looks like a mop left in the janitor's closet for seven years.'
'You're already losing yours! You'll be bald by the time you're twenty!'"

Natalie likes to game.
Natalie also hates Cole.
Cole also, most definitely, despises Natalie.
That's okay, Natalie doesn't need Cole to like her, she has her online best friend. As long as he texts her, everything going wrong in her life will be okay.
Cole... well, Natalie doesn't know anything about Cole, other than the fact that he's rude.
He seems to have a perfect life, while Natalie has something that is far from it.
Actually, Cole doesn't know anything about Natalie either. He only knows she's incredibly annoying, and even more stuck up.
That's what they both think, anyway.
Truthfully, it might just be a love-hate relationship.

I stare at Matt's face as he looks down, concentrating on the game. I can tell he's so angry. He's holding it in his jaw, he's clenching his teeth. He's up in his head and I don't know what's going on up there but I just know it's not good. Even if I get him back out now, I know that he's going to overthink everything later tonight. "Matty, it's ok." I whisper. He immediately looks up and finds my eyes. His blue eyes are bluer than normal. Impossibly blue. Not even a gray blue. But a pure, brilliant blue. "It's not ok, Rach. I fucking hate him." His swear catches me off guard a bit. But my eye contact doesn't waver. "Thank you." "You're welcome." My favorite color immediately changes to blue. --------------- Two childhood friends have spent a lifetime battling demons. Will life ever give them a break?
