We all started with eight. Runaways, bandits, thieves, assassins, pirates, we had many titles. Tired of the restrictions placed by rulers who haven't a shred of experience of what life on the outside of royalty is like, we joined together for a solution. We would make their own nation, and defy everything that has been put in place for so long. This new empire would be a beacon of hope for the poor, the starving, and all the people who the "royals" have been unjust to. Then, then all of them will have to answer to us.

The Shadow Crow (A Shadow and Bone: Season 2 Fanfiction)
A few days after Alina and I escaped the clutches of my brother, the former Ravkan general of the Second Army, Aleksander Kirigan, we parted ways. I went with Kaz Brekker and his gang of thieves, affectionately nicknamed the Crows, back to Ketterdam, while Alina Starkov and her friend, Mal Oretsev, left for other lands beyond the walls of Os Alta. In Ketterdam, I made a name for myself, aiding Kaz and the Crows in all manner of criminal behaviour, forgetting that I was ever the younger sister of the Black Heretic. But I've lost everything I've ever known. I don't know where my mother or my dear friend Genya is - sometimes, this new life is unfamiliar and uncomfortable, especially within the tight, damp spaces of Ketterdam, this sprawling criminal town that seems so big and yet so small. Or within the base of the Crows that I sometimes call home - or the feelings that I seem to feel for Kaz Brekker. Kaz and I still don't understand each other, and I don't think we ever will. Alina and Mal set off across the sea, and from what I heard, they were going in search of the second of Morozova's creatures, the Firebird. Alina hopes that with the help of the Firebird and the Stag as Grisha amplifiers, that she might be able to take down the Shadow Fold for good. I know that my brother, Aleksander Kirigan, did not die that day in the Fold, and that one day he would come to exact his vengeance upon his lost Sun Summoner and all of Ravka. As Kaz prepares to unleash fresh hell on old foes, and as Alina prepares to hopefully end the terror of the Darkling once and for all, I myself am preparing for a war on both sides. I am a Rebel, they say. They're right. It all started when I was a young girl, my parents died in a fire, started by the King of our land. I was only 6 years of age, and I was left with a burn tracing up my arm and onto my collarbone. I was taken in by a woman I called 'Stepmother'. The King's actions caused my life, he's caused so much death. At least half the village has suffered because of him. I now fight against the King, and his daughter, I'm now a leader. There are so many others whom he has wronged. We used to be small group, but now we've grown in numbers. Millicent (though we call her Maleficent on accident) the Dragon Sorceress, Peter Pan the boy who can fly, Killian Hook the Pirate, Red Riding Hood the Wolf Slayer and Animal Tamer, Hansel and Gretel the Witch Hunters, Rumplestiltskin the Wizard, Blue the Fairy, Maethranal the Elven Queen, Jack the Giant Killer, Gothel the Witch, Merida the Archer, and Banshee, are the original people in our group who aren't dead. Gothel was being hunted by Hansel and Gretel at the time I met all three of them. Merida was adopted by Maethranal and trained as an Elven archer. Blue and Banshee are related by blood. Peter and Killian were enemies, but then banded together to stop Rumpelstiltskin, who later agreed to work with me. I love them like family, especially since my seven friends were killed. I miss them so much. They were my first friends, and helped me start this... rebel group. My husband contributed just as much as they did, and had the same fate. Eight people dead in one tiny little raid. I killed my stepmother, and use her riches to buy weapons for us all. We now hide in an abandoned castle in the middle of the dark forest, called 'The Red Tower', and is shrouded in fog and mist.
