We all started with eight. Runaways, bandits, thieves, assassins, pirates, we had many titles. Tired of the restrictions placed by rulers who haven't a shred of experience of what life on the outside of royalty is like, we joined together for a solution. We would make their own nation, and defy everything that has been put in place for so long. This new empire would be a beacon of hope for the poor, the starving, and all the people who the "royals" have been unjust to. Then, then all of them will have to answer to us.

A few days after Alina and I escaped the clutches of my brother, the former Ravkan general of the Second Army, Aleksander Kirigan, we parted ways. I went with Kaz Brekker and his gang of thieves, affectionately nicknamed the Crows, back to Ketterdam, while Alina Starkov and her friend, Mal Oretsev, left for other lands beyond the walls of Os Alta. In Ketterdam, I made a name for myself, aiding Kaz and the Crows in all manner of criminal behaviour, forgetting that I was ever the younger sister of the Black Heretic.
