joaquin desantos is supposed to be a normal teenager who goes to school and has friends and tries to live a happy life. however, when his mother died when he was 8, his father blamed him, ruining any chances he had of living a normal life. as his father abuses him, he slowly falls further and further into darkness.

Betty moved to Riverdale in Sophomore year because of her abusive dad and drunken mom. Polly and Charles are twins and Polly already was living in Riverdale with her twins Juniper and Dagwood.
