I tried not to look up, fought the urge to find out what he was actually looking at but it was to no avail. I finally joined him and I didn't spot anything special about it, except maybe is that a gecko.
I quit looking up and asked him another question

" so ummm what do you do? Do you have a job or something?.One of the most important questions that my friend Laura schooled me to ask the guys.

He smiled and responded, making sure to avoid any form of eye contact, this time he was looking at the table. " I umm, I uh, I umm, I, I, i

Inner thought: great he is a stammerer way to go

Would you just shut up!"
I reprimanded my inner thought and maybe I was too loud. Because he halted and finally looked at me coupled with the other heads that turned to look at us.

"I'm sorry I wasn't referring to you, please continue, you were what? "

Her heart was beating so fast and her stomach ached so bad. She knew this was it, this was her fate being sealed. " Zhulfah Bint Ilyas? " It would be weird to ask the Imam a question like " Hey look. There was a really nice old friend of my dad's pestering me to be his third wife and I didn't want to go to Ogbomosho and his proposal came along and everything kinda rushed from there, so does that mean I was in my sane mind when I said...yes?" Surely some level of insanity meant she wasn't sure, right? Must the question be a yes or no answer? Can't it just be a maybe? Something along the lines of ' maybe I'll marry him 'cuz my heart is kinda telling me to but my brain's answer isn't forthcoming?' Wait...does that even make any sense? " Zhulfah Bint Ilyas? " She hadn't had breakfast but she felt like she downed a whole packet of laxatives with the way her stomach danced weirdly. " Zhulfah... " " Yes! Yes! Yes! I do! I do!" She said a bit too loudly into the mic, and was instantly filled with regret. She heard her best friend chuckle lightly behind her and she wanted nothing more than to give her a good beating. She glanced over at her husband to be in a few minutes, and her face heated up when she caught him smiling amusingly. " I mean", She cleared her throat. " I do...accept him as...as..my husband." " Well, I think I'll have to speed up the event and legalize these two", The Imam joked and the whole congregation burst into laughter. Zhulfah's face warmed up several degrees, and she was so sure her face would be burnt before the end of that day with the way she was blushing to a severe degree. The Imam was still laughing, and she knew it won't look like a joke much longer if she had a scissors to his beard.

Folarin is sick of this. Every day, he wakes up to more fuel added to the idiotic rumours that he and his best friend, Chuka are in a secret gay relationship. It's ridiculous. Folarin has had actual interventions held over his chronic womanizing and Chuka gets in and out or more ships than Jack Sparrow. The two of them are drowning in women. And the fact they happen to be two of the biggest stars in Nollywood, not to mention insanely handsome, certainly doesn't hurt the process. But one blogger in particular, who seems to have a personal bone to pick with them, posts lie after lie while smoothly evading legal consequences. She needs to be stopped. So, as part of an elaborate plan to trap her, they decide to lean into it. It would be controversial. It could be career suicide. And it's a risk they're willing to take. But what starts as acting for the cameras starts to stir up some very real emotions, and they - for the first time - start to wonder... ...if the world was on to something. .... "This." Folarin said, waving his hand back and forth between them. "I want to try." Chuka cocked an eyebrow. "Being boyfriends?" Folarin shut his eyes and let out a long-suffering sigh. "Yes. Being bo- . You fucking know what I'm talking about." "And how exactly is that supposed to work?" "Why wouldn't it?" "For one thing, we're not gay." Folarin shrugged. "How hard can it be?" Chuka laughed through his nose. "I'm not sure that's how sexuality works, Folarin." This isn't steamy like Brother in Lust but it's still a good read, I promise. :) Enjoy.
