Clint Barton has completely retired from being an Avenger following the birth of little Nathaniel, leaving Madison to find her place in the world. It's difficult for Madison in the beginning, not having her father to guide her anymore. Things get even more difficult when the government steps in, wanting to control the Avengers. When the Sokovia Accords are put in place, the Avengers are torn apart leaving Natasha and Madison on opposing sides. Does Madison side with her mother Natasha? Or does she rebel against everything and risk her freedom?

"It's time for you to spread your wings and fly, Baby Bird", her father told her. "But...what am I supposed to do without you?" she asked. Her father tucked some hair behind her ear and smiled. "I'll always be here for you, but it's time to leave the nest".

THIS BOOK IS PART OF A SERIES. THIS IS THE THIRD BOOK IN ZOLA's STORY. Make sure to read "In Their Hands", followed by "Control" before reading this story!! Zola returns with her mom after a fight regarding the mischief behind both HYDRA & SHIELD. When they think the conflict has settled, another arises. The Avengers split between the choice of working under supervision, vs. working without it. Her mother takes one side, and her father chooses the other. Now, Zola's old enough to make her own decisions, even though her choice still causes conflict with her parents. She can choose to stay alongside her mother, or, she can choose to fight beside her birth father, Bucky Barnes, AND the only father she has ever known, Clint Barton. Still, Zola is not aware of her relation to Bucky. But she is starting to sense that there's something her parents are hiding. She is slowly putting the pieces together and understanding who Bucky is. Through conflict, confusion, and difficulty, Zola tries to maintain relationships that have lasted throughout her life. She watches the love that she has grown up with begin to crumble and decay. She tries to revive these things that are most important to her. However, as she grows older in this country that seems so foreign, she better understands the emphasis of "Nothing Gold Can Stay." And when she keeps a promise she has made, and goes with her mother to destroy their demons of the red room, she finds out about a deeper meaning of family that has never had. TAKES PLACE DURING "CACW" AND "BLACK WIDOW".

This story starts off during Avengers Age of Ultron and continues till the end of Civil War. Y/N Rogers is the daughter of Steve and Peggy. She was born in 1943 and kidnapped in 1953 by HYDRA. She was kept in a cryostasis chamber until 2006. HYDRA experimented on her when she turned 14 in 2010 and she ended up with powers including mental manipulation, telekinesis and invisibility. She managed to escape in 2012 to find that her dad was alive despite thinking he died in 1945. She found her dad with the Avengers and has been living in Avenger's tower with them ever since. For the purpose of the story, Pietro and Wanda are both still teenagers and I have slightly changed their backstories. I have also changed the timeline of the mind stone slightly but it won't effect the future of it. I don't own any of the Marvel characters or the storylines from the movies. I only own the character of the reader and any of the scenes I have made up.
