When her talented tongue almost lands her in juvie, her parents decide that some good old fashioned community service will help keep their daughter in check.
Enter wannabe director Miller Connery, a homeschooled nearly college freshman desperate to find a subject for his semester film project. When Lyra accidentally stumbles in on his casting call, she's intriguing (and annoying enough) for him to immediately pick her for the role.

The Plays the Thing

And, I thought how incredibly awkward it would have been for a teenage girl to do all of those scenes if she had been any less self assured and professional than Joey King is. So , I set my story in a high school that was putting on the play the Kissing Booth, and made my own characters with their own insecurities and struggles.
