Lyra Hansson wouldn't exactly call herself an actor - she was just excellent at lying. A simple blink of one of her bright green eyes, a pout from her strawberry pink lips, and any word that escaped her mouth not only would you believe, but you'd obey. When her talented tongue almost lands her in juvie, her parents decide that some good old fashioned community service will help keep their daughter in check. Enter wannabe director Miller Connery, a homeschooled nearly college freshman desperate to find a subject for his semester film project. When Lyra accidentally stumbles in on his casting call, she's intriguing (and annoying enough) for him to immediately pick her for the role. It was only supposed to be a simple expose. But what is one to do when they start to think of kissing the lips behind the camera?

Livy's always been the supporting actress rather than the star of both her real life and the school plays. She thought she was happy living on the sidelines until she's cast as the lead in the school play opposite her step brother's best friend, high-school bad boy Xander Davis. Now Livy suddenly finds herself center stage in both the play and a secret romance with Xander. Is she willing to take the risk of stepping out into the spotlight or will she stay in the safe role she has always know? This story is inspired by the movie the Kissing Booth. Or, really, interviews I saw with Joey King and Jacob Elordi about filming the Kissing Booth. I thought how romantic it was that they fell in love while filming the movie. And, I thought how incredibly awkward it would have been for a teenage girl to do all of those scenes if she had been any less self assured and professional than Joey King is. So , I set my story in a high school that was putting on the play the Kissing Booth, and made my own characters with their own insecurities and struggles. I will be updating this once a week if anyone starts reading it.
