Carter is just fine on her own, she is okay with living on the outskirts of  Woodland District of the Lacus Pack. Of course, as a district healer, one is never alone. When supernatural beings are on the verge of war and Alpha Brooks makes his rounds of the districts, he meets the Woodland healer. The serious alpha gets a glimpse at what serenity is like, and Ava is what brings it out in him. 

Ava-Lee Carter has a wild gypsy-like soul, Alpha Brooks is a collected, put-together gentleman. As werewolves, they couldn't be more different. As mates, they couldn't be more made for each other.

"What is wrong with you?!" Carter snapped at him as she followed him into his office.

"What's wrong with me?! Really?" As he talked, his voice raised. Running his hand through his hair, he pulled at the ends and turned to face her. "You're what's wrong with me Ava!"

As tears started streaming down Carters' face, she screamed at Brooks. "Well if you don't like me so much, why don't you just reject me already so I can go home?!" 

Brooks' breath caught in his throat, he couldn't imagine rejecting her, he couldn't imagine sending her back to the Woodland District. He sat down at his desk, putting his head in his hands."That's not what I want."  His voice caught, and for a second Carter thought it sounded like a sob. 

"What do you want Aden?" She whimpered. She never had a man affect her as much as Aden Brooks did. Just the thought of going back home made her break inside.

Tears streamed down her cheeks, her finger gripping my sleeve. She never told me about her home life, guilt eating me raw. Everyday she bounded by my side with the warmest smile.
