After finishing her first year of college at Emory University, Hannah Meller is feeling defeated. While her freshman year was a success academically, she could not figure out how to interact with any guy she was attracted to without turning into a bumbling, awkward, mess.

When Hannah boards a plane back to her home in New Jersey where she will spend the summer, she is seated near a charming, incredibly handsome musician she's never heard of before-Luke Hemmings, the lead singer of Five Seconds of Summer. Hannah and Luke spend almost the entire plane ride talking, and for the first time, Hannah feels comfortable being herself around a guy that she finds attractive. Hannah never expects to see or hear from Luke again after that fateful plane ride, but Luke has other plans in mind. Luke relentlessly pursues Hannah and Hannah cannot believe her luck in becoming the object of one of the most talented, gorgeous artists in the music business's affection. That is, until she gets to know Luke a little better.

Luke is sweet, vulnerable, and attentive when he and Hannah are alone and he's just Luke Hemmings, a normal 22-year-old guy from Australia. However, Hannah learns that Luke Hemmings, lead singer of 5SOS is an entirely different person, with a closet full of demons. Hannah must decide if her feelings for Luke are strong enough to compel her to stay by his side.
