They don't know that all along, there's been something strange about him. They'll find out soon enough. But it will probably be too late..

It started with hustling pool. He needed some sort of income. Living off the streets at twelve years old isn't easy in any respect, but it helps to have money. Then came the pickpocketing. It's amazing how much cash someone carries in their wallet at a time. Just a brief bump and he can easily slip a hand in a pocket. He'd have to use the credit cards quickly. He could match a signature well enough that a machine wouldn't care. It would only be a matter of time until the card was canceled, but he'd have it long enough to buy a new pair of shoes or a jacket in the winter. And the cash, he'd save that for a rainy day. Then came the shoplifting. He finds its easier to steal directly from the source. Hiding a twenty dollar shirt in a hoodie pocket was easier than finding the twenty dollars themselves, and showing up at the grocery store right when it opens and shoving an apple down his throat when no one was looking isn't as complicated as it sounds. It was never supposed to get violent. He was just trying to keep himself alive. He didn't expect them to be home. But then he made a game of it, and he never truly realized how high the stakes were - not until there were weapons involved. He did what he had to do. He snatched the knife, and what happened to the man, he'll never know. It was a nasty wound, though. If he did somehow survive it, he'll almost certainly never walk again. That day changed everything. It opened up a world of possibilities. He's been breaking the law for months, but it never occurred to him that he could just outright ignore it. Life After The Cure
Rex Salzar has cured every one of the harmful nanites and he alone remains with his Evo powers. An 'Evo' stands for Exponentially Variegated Organism. It's when "nanites" (which are small as cells but are little machines) randomly activate inside their hosts (human or animal) giving them powerful abilities. But it usually mutates them into monsters that are most times, mindless and destructive. But him being an exception as he retains his sanity and human form only using his ability to turn parts of his body (arms and feet) into various machines in self-defense against other Evos. Making him even more special is that he can cure other Evos. This story takes place after he has cured the world of that plight as he worked along with an organization called Providence. Rex now questions the need for him to be a hero anymore. He knew he was doing the right thing since his deceased parents who died during the first outbreak of nanties would want him to use his powers for good. But he wonders if this may be a good opportunity for him to start living a normal teenage life. Making matters worse he gets put on a seemingly boring mission to follow an advertising company that goes to underdeveloped towns that promises to give the people better lives. Worse yet he gets placed with his long-time partner Kenwyn Jones to go to one of the Caribbean Islands where this is taking place. The two had never really gotten along but he accepts the mission anyway to what at first glance may seem like a vacation to paradise to him. But when the locals start to lock their doors and windows at the sound of an ice cream truck and others who go out are never seen again may be a sign that his job is just not finished. That is if he's up to the task of being an everyday hero ATTENTION- I do not own Rex or any of Man Of Action properties/ past plots mentioned/ characters. The Tokats decided to took Jay with them to the Tokats fort because they wanted to let Jay help them. Jay didn't want that so he ran back to the human fort.
