Theia, Queen of the North, ruled with a composure as refined as it was ruthless. Whispers of her name drifted through the kingdom like winter's breath, sharp, unrelenting, and impossible to ignore. She was something far more dangerous, a ruler forged in frost and blood, whose mercy was seldom granted and never expected. Lamia arrived as nothing more than a whisper of misfortune, rescued from a life of cruelty best left buried and delivered into service within the palace walls. Unwanted, unseen, and achingly alone, she knew better than to draw attention, especially from a Queen whose favor could elevate or destroy with a single glance. But courts are treacherous places, where power is a game and hearts are liabilities. For beneath the Queen's polished restraint lies a storm not easily tamed, and Lamia, fragile yet unbroken, may be the only one who dares to stand within it. In a kingdom where loyalty is fleeting and the past never loosens its grip, one truth lingers... Even the most graceful courts are built upon blood.
