While walking down the street , a cold shiver went down her spine , she understood they were somewhere near , no movement , breaths controlled , slowly moving towards her house .
Her house was still far , she knew she may not make it to her house . She did not want to get caught by them .
She knew being caught would take away her everything , her life will change , disastrously , internally praying and thinking why she was out till this time and how did she end up in this street .
Something was moving closer to her , no choice , only one thing left to do , RUN ! She maybe able to get away , she ran , as fast as she could , faster , not stopping . Suddenly she was in air .
"You thought you would get away ? You smell so sweet , virgin , you will sell at a good price honey ." A deep voiced man said .
Man ? No vampire , yes vampire can be the best term to make it clear .
This is 2020 and no more humans are ruling , vampires , warewolves and all the other creatures are now at ruling , humans are treated as slaves , our dear Jade also knew where she will be going now and how horrible her life will be .
She was out that day due to her extra scheduled work at a coffee shop runner by a human obviously but she over stayed the time , the timing vampires the biggest rulers had given to humans to stay out was less but enough to save their lives .
Jade is now caught . No escape . She internally prayed someone to save her . No one will , she knows .
"Stop thinking so much stupid human , you are here , tomorrow you will be sent to auction , hmm I will earn a lot because of you honey ."
Julia is on the run, fleeing for her life. An army of vampires ravage her country, plundering villages and enslaving their occupants. With the vampire horde closing in, Julia is forced to abandon her home and head south with the hope of reuniting with her brother. There they will build a new farm and live in safety.
But one vampire lord has a different plan for her future. He tracks her down and takes her captive. No matter how hopeless her situation, she never gives up, risking her life to regain her freedom. He forces her down, punishing her when her defiant spirit hinders his mission. It soon becomes clear that she's nothing like the human soldiers he's used to dealing with. A sense a guilt begins to grow whenever he upsets the girl who both fears and leans into him for protection.
Julia and the vampire lord are connected in ways they had never known. Their lives become entangled, bringing them to make decisions they would've never thought possible.
Extract from Chapter 1:
He unsheathes his blade, and I suddenly wish that he'd go back to poking me. He's going to cut me while I can't move? To torture me? I start to panic again. "No, no, no." I yank on the restraints, and the rope bites into my skin. I pull and pull and try to shuffle away from him.
He presses the blade against my neck, and I freeze.
"Fearful," he says.
I catch a glimpse of his freakishly long canines. The edge of the blade presses on my skin, just enough not to draw blood.
