I never knew that being a superhero can be exhilarating.  

Ever since Nadine, Marco, James, and I  received superpowers, we ran away from home, saved passengers from a chaotic train, and become lab rats for a mutant-hating scientist named Mr. Jefferies. 

But now that everything is back to normal, 
my friends and I have decided to stop a few bad guys, rescue innocent lives, and return home in time for dinner. 

That is until I meet a fifteen-year-old street kid named Theo Salinger. 

Weird name, right? 

Theo didn't seem like the type who respects the Avengers or the law. Even though he took down the Triads, Theo stole 2.5 million dollars out of the warehouse then escaped. 

And to make matters worse, Mayor Reynolds has been assassinated on his own birthday. But just before the mayor's death, there are rumors circulating that he sexually assaulted eight women during his campaign meetings. 

While some rejoiced at his death, others-like his wife-didn't believe Mayor Reynolds would do such a thing. So I hired myself to get to the bottom of this.

But between you and me, solving this case isn't as easy as you think. 

Since this fanfiction takes place in the Marvel Universe: I do not own the Marvel Characters or cities. 

Also, this book discusses the themes of sexual allegations, dyslexia, kids with disabilities, and homelessness. If you happened to be struggling with any of these issues, please consult with a friend, teacher, or someone you trust.

The X-Men meets Stranger Things in this coming-of-age tale. I, Nadine Jackson, believe in science and opportunities, not stories out of a comic book. So as part of a school project, my friends Imogen 'Aria' Zhang, Marco Martinez, James Ryder and I were tasked to find a topic on social issues and do a project about it. But just as we were up to the challenge, we were "killed" by two men, drowned in toxic water, and instantly came back to life with no sudden injuries and supernatural abilities. While I can move things with my mind, Aria controls air, Marco is immortal, and James can phase through walls. And as weird as this sounds, my friends and I are being hunted by federal agents, shunned by society, and wanted for crimes that we never did. James always told us that everything is going to be alright; that nothing bad is going to happen to us no matter what. But when you are a fifteen-year-old kid with weird powers, how will you ever go back to the way things were?
