When many L.E.R. agents find out about Tooth telling Matt and Haven they need to shut down the L.E.R., they're not happy. So not only do Matt, Haven, and the others have to deal with making the decision of whose lives to save, Mallory, and trying to stop a second curse, they have to deal with this new group of rebels as well. But everything is finally coming together, and not in a good way.

Ronin saw the faces of the new Children of the Light and was tasked by the Elders to track them down and protect them at all costs.The children were both college students and were one male and one female whose names were James Hillman and Sara Danvers..When Ronin went to see he ran into a ghost from his past, Lillian. The story continues on with Ronin seeking answers from the Elders about how a Guardian could come back from the dead.
