I wiped the tears away that streaked his fast-growing pale face and smile, a painful thing, ugly with the grief and self loathing. My fingers lingering on his cheeks, caressing gently "Hey when you dispose of my body don't throw it in the sewers, that's where they look first, you should dump me in that closet of the big Halls, I've always wanted to go to Narnia."

For not seeing your pain and hiding mine

His shoulders shudder from sobs and hysterical laughter. 'You never changed...'

"I didn't" my eyes closed as I rest our foreheads against each other, holding him tight and discreetly putting the bracelet in his pocket before letting go and taking the gun with his hands around it, pulling it slowly to my forehead, securing my fingers around his so he can't pull away.

But perhaps I wasn't made to change, perhaps I wasn't made to be here. Perhaps...I do not deserve the redemption I now seek

"Please, stop," I begged, my voice cracking. Tears streamed down my face, my eyes swollen and burning. "I can't handle this anymore. Just stay away from me." His words, "Little Angel, don't say that. I'm here to love you," were like a cruel joke. Love? The word tasted like ash in my mouth. His actions screamed something entirely different. "Your sweet words won't change anything. I need you to keep your distance," I responded firmly, putting all my energy into my voice. My breath hitched. One minute we were arguing, the next...fire. Agony seared my throat. He shoved me onto the bed, my head hitting the pillows hard. Stunned, I begged silently, God, please, save me from this monster. His hands were on my throat again, squeezing, stealing my air. Blurred vision, his eyes bloodshot, furious. "How dare you?" he growled. "Consequences, baby." ************************************ He, steeped in darkness, she, bathed in light. A collision was inevitable, a clash of opposing forces that threatened to shatter them both. Would he succumb to the light, or would he drag her down into his darkness? The stakes were higher than either of them could have imagined. This wasn't just love. It was a war for their souls. "Well, whatever you do, I'm sure it'll be great," he said, his smile lingering. "You deserve to have an amazing time." His words made me blush a little, and I was about to reply when I felt that familiar prickle on the back of my neck. I glanced toward the corner, where Mr. Whiskey Guy was sitting. Only this time, his gaze wasn't just lingering. It was burning. His eyes were locked on Mark, sharp and intense, and for the first time, I felt a real chill. There was something different about him now, something I couldn't quite name, but it sent a ripple of unease through me. I was about to look away, when he slowly shook his head at me, his eyes burning with something that looked closest to anger. It looked like a warning, and I froze, staring back at him, as he tiled his head, watching me intensely. The fuck? "You okay?" Mark asked, his voice pulling me back to the present. "Yeah," I said, forcing a smile. "Just got a little distracted." Mark nodded, his expression softening as he leaned a little closer. "Well, if you need a break or want to chat, I'm around." He reached out and lightly touched my hand, his fingers brushing mine for just a second, but it was enough to snap me out of the moment. Because across the room, I heard the sharp scrape of a chair against the floor. I looked up, my heart skipping a beat. He was now on his feet, his jaw clenched so tightly I could see the muscle twitch. His eyes, dark, angry, met mine for the briefest moment, and I swear the air in the room thickened. He didn't say a word, but it made me feel like I fucked up big time. Without a word, he stormed out, the door slamming behind him with a bang that made everyone in the bar pause for a second.
