Everly Paine is not excited for her 18th birthday in a few days. Her mother is. Everly is in a pack called Stygian, the 2nd strongest pack in the world. As a werewolf, Everly will receive the ability to find her mate when she turns 18. Most girls in her pack would be excited. However, Everly is not excited to have a mate. She's the Beta's daughter, which means her mate will be possessive and jealous to any male who even looks in Everly's direction. She's afraid to lose her best friend Isaac because of this mate. Isaac is searching for his mate, but cannot find her. He has come to the conclusion she either isn't yet 18 or she died. Isaac being the Alpha's eldest son is bound to take over the Stygian pack once he finds his mate.

Smelling the most wonderful mix of forest and rain, my body pulls me to follow it. As I come to meet the source, my wolf howls happily in my head. So loud I begin to get dizzy. As I look to see who it is, my wolf begins to purr.
"Mine." He growls out as my vision begins turn black. I manage to whisper "mate" as my body collapses into his arms, the black vision taking over. The last thing I feel before losing all of my senses is his arms, wrapped around me, sending tingles and sparks everywhere his body touches.
