When Alison DiLaurentis went missing the summer before sophomore year, it threw her four best friends for a loop. Now Aria Montgomery, Emily Fields, Hanna Marin, and Spencer Hastings must deal with the loss of their friend a year later when her body is recovered under the gazebo of her house. Along with mysterious threats from an anonymous source who knows all of their secrets, the girls must work together to seek out answers to who killed their best friend and who is sending the threatening messages before anyone else gets hurt.
