The war with the shifters is no longer a losing concern, but more of a stalemate. Life goes on and new planets are being colonized. One such planet was found to have sentient life that didn't want to let the humans take over and so Beta Company was sent in. 
What they learn, well changes everything that the humans know, both civilian and warriors and also changes the course of the war.
Once more Kadance and her team are called upon to deal with this new problem, but is it?
