As students we're constantly pressured to be our own, unique individuals. However, we're not given the opportunities to do so, and when we make efforts they're labeled distastefully. We all have voices that aren't being heard. If we change the repetition we're used to and rebel a little bit, we might feel like we matter. We might feel like we're alive.
A challenge to listen to the student voice and to break the restraints of the education system. Young Writer's Short Story Competition Entry. Written in 2014, 13 years old; this story will be rewritten and republished in late 2017.

UNWANTED DEVOTION
I was taught from birth, through force, how to be perfect for him, how to obey everything he said, and how to be his devoted follower. I was being prepared to become his perfect wife. But when he came, he brought someone else with him, making me the happiest person, but not for long. It has to be real. And sometimes you don't know if it's real or not, until it's too late - A story about a girl, who tries to find her place at a new school. She promised herself not to be friends with the goth psychopaths as her mom calls them, but what are you supposed to do, when they seem like the best choice? - Trigger warnings can be found in the first line of each chapter. "WHY CAN'T YOU GET IT INSIDE YOUR HEAD?" He trapped my trembling body between his arms and slammed his fist into the wall. I flinch at the sound as I feel tears forming in my eyes. "I'M SICK AND TIRED OF YOUR CRYING. JUST ACCEPT THE FACT THAT YOU'RE NEVER LEAVING. THIS IS YOUR LIFE NOW, WITH ME" He spits, anger consuming his voice as I push myself further against the wall. Shutting my eyes closed and turning my face to the side as I do. Moments later, I feel his rough hand on my waist and his finger grazing my cheek. "Look at me, love." His hand grips onto my jaw, his thumb playing across my lower lip. He turns my face to meet his as I lower my gaze to the floor. He lowers himself to my level and I feel his breath fanning my cheek causing my breathing to become unsteady. "I love you so much, darling. But you need to learn. You need to learn that you won't be going anywhere. You're mine." With that being said, his other hand slides down to my waist "Your entire body, your mind, your soul. All mine." The Scars I Carry
A collection I've put together of a few original poems I've written over the years. These poems are relating to personal experiences and emotions, and I debated publishing them for a very long time. I've finally decided to publish some of my work in hopes that they can help some people through difficulties, as writing them helped me. I will be adding more as I write them of course. There are various forms and styles so each piece is different from the others, although this collection follows similar themes. I will be putting trigger warnings for each and every poem that requires them, as well as which triggers are contained in which poems that way you have the best idea of what you will find. If at any point you feel triggered by my writing or by something else, please don't be afraid to reach out for help, you are never alone, I promise you. The themes/possible triggers contained within this collection are the following; self-harm, suicide attempts and general talk of suicide, emotional and psychological abuse, childhood trauma, mental health and mental illness (anxiety, depression, ptsd, anorexia- etc), death and dying-and others. Suicidal
This is the story of an abused teenage girl, Maddie. Her need to die has become overwhelming and she is trying to find a way to help herself before she does something she may regret. The story is told from her point of view as she recalls all that has happened to her. Maybe telling her story will help her, maybe not. This isn't just any other sob story. This is more realistic. You may even find yourself comparing your life to Maddie's while reading this story. Disclosure: I wrote this as a 13-year-old and the writing is definitely not up to my current standards, but I feel as though changing what I have already written would take away from the emotion I put into this story at 13 years old. She's the new girl, 𝐒𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐚 𝐀𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫 was a joyful child whose wings were clipped too soon. For every lesson she endured, every promise broken every soul she lost, she wears the consequences. Walls have ears, doors have eyes, and she learned too late to beware the man she thought she knew. She learned how it feels to be dead while still walking, to wear a heart that no longer beats and a soul that no longer feels, trapped in a home that seems perfect but hides a world of horrible cruelty. Her scarred mind locked on the boy she thought she could have. He was her greatest hello, her saddest goodbye, the biggest what if she will question all her life. She was the first person he showed his heart to and the reason no one would see it again.
