Hidden in the forest of an after war world, Emery lives with the Outsiders. They believe that society had become overpowering. They spend their lives training for the next war, but as they train they are attacked by the "Leaches" . When the next war breaks out, Emery is forced to carry out orders as an outsider spy. As she searches for information she finds herself in the center of enemy territory, unable to escape without the help of a Leach.
