Albus Dumbledore has spent Harry's entire life manipulating him. He bought him 'friends' just to spy on him. Harry wasn't the only one who got ensnared in this intricate web of deception. Tom Marvolo Riddle had also been caught, and look where he ended up. 

All Dumbledore had to do, was mention horcrux in Tom's presence, and Tom naturally would not want to die. Dumbledore had no intention of allowing Harry to survive after completing his mission.

He couldn't allow the boy go and become a dark lord with all of that power. It was for the greater good of humanity that the be would be locked up in Azkaban. Of course, Dumbles concocted a reason why Harry should be imprisoned. After all, he did cast unforgivables. It was for the greater good....

He should've known that you shouldn't mess with Harry Potter....
