It's Melissa's first time cheerleading a game for this new school. She somehow made captain despite being new and not knowing literally anyone. The other cheerleaders accepted her almost as if the last captain was just that terrible of a person. They all could be on autopilot for how close they were.
But when she was watching the game she couldn't keep her eyes off the quarterback. So much thinner than the rest of the team much more delicate looking. It was strange to her but she couldn't figure out why.
A few drinks and a jerk later she soon found out.

They moved from Arizona to California. About 1/4 into her junior year, Riley had to go to a new school, and make new friends. She didn't really care about having friends though, as long as she was able to play soccer, she would be okay. Soccer had always been there for her, when her mom died, when she didn't have anyone else, when she was in a bad mood. It was always there for her to play. She didn't need anyone else. That changed when she met Brooke Eckmann. Brooke is also a junior in high school, and is the varsity teams goalie. When they first meet on the field, it was something different. She couldn't stop thinking about her. It was something both of them had never felt before.
