The office was set with black furniture and just the two of them stood in the office saying nothing as he looks out the glass wall in the silent atmosphere and does not dare to speak a word to the director of S.H.I.E.L.D .  Then turns to see Nick Fury jumbles some papers in hand . " Your missions partner will be Natasha Romanoff and you have twenty two days maximum to take down all twenty targets ." . And the next thing he does is hand him a thick file . " All the information you need is in this file so no questions now get out " He says in a heavy voice .

When new intel comes through about a Hydra weapon, the avengers split into two teams, one checking out a new base, while the other scours an old one. It's no coincidence that the intel comes through, and they find files about experiments done to one person. 'winter 2.0' the team calls her, but to Bucky, the fear sinks in as memories resurface about one soldier in particular, Ace. Stronger, deadlier and she made the winter soldier in him afraid. The work together to find out all they can, not realising that they are being watched by the very soldier herself. After an attack on the compound, which leaves quite a few of the team shaken, one avengr in particular is intrigued by the univited guest now residing in the holding cells. Who is the masked assailant, and why is it, she listened to him? **** The soldier begins to remember her past, fighting against all the Hydra conditioning, to remember who she was. Why does one of the men stand out? Who is he, and why does she have an overwhelming need to protect him? She knows Hydra will stop at nothing to get their soldiers back, but will she submit to Hydra or fight for right to live free? With lives on the line, sacrifices will be made, but who will live and who will die? ⚠️ Trigger warning ⚠️ Will contain swearing, adult themes, torture, abuse, smut, violence and depression. I bent over and her body and started to sing the song she used to sing to her brother. The crunch was so deafening in the silence as Nick Fury stepped on my Winter Soldier mask. He didn't look very happy and neither did the two dozen men surrounding me with blasters trained at my head. Fury made one swift movement with his hand and two men strapped handcuffs to me and lifted me to my feet. As they led me to their flying prison, I turned around and whispered one last thing to her, "Mne zhal..." I'm sorry. ~~~~ Agent Natasha Romanoff and James (Bucky) Barnes are rewritten into a romantic action set after Captain America Civil War. This is one of the ways the story could have gone if Bucky had been blamed for the assassination of the king of Wakanda.

"I'm guessing you're here to try and recruit me? Again?" I ask him patiently. I believe this is the fifth-time Nick Fury has come calling. Each and every time I have turned him down, but eventually he comes back and proposes the same thing. "No, I'm here to see if you'd like some girl scout cookies. The Samoa's are selling really well this year." Nick sasses while giving me his signature glare. I smirk. He's a sarcastic jerk, but he is funny. "Oh, well in that case..." I start and trail off, knowing it'll make him even more frustrated. He huffs and my smirk grows. "Why do you want me so bad?" I ask, honestly wanting to know. I watch Nick as he sighs deeply and clasps his hands in front of him. "Your skill set is equal to the best that we have. You would be an invaluable part of the team." He explains, but he knows that isn't what I mean. We stare at each other for a moment before he sighs again. "Your history only makes you more of an impressive subject." He continues and I groan. "The point is that you would help put an end to what happened to you, on a global scale." He says. "Think about it, Shifter." Nick drops a folder on the concrete and starts to walk back to the exit of the roof. I flip through the folder lazily, barely skimming the papers, but I know all of the names already. Once I've gone through most of it I stop and toss it in the dust behind me. Reading it was useless. I wasn't made to be any sort of hero. I DO NOT OWN THE AVENGERS.
